Eggstra (FABRIC) requires FABRIC API

Eggstra is a very simple mod, with an even simpler idea: allow eggs to be cooked into fried eggs in furnaces, smokers or campfires. However, the mod also adds Golden Eggs, Golden Cakes and a new structure to the game, alongside other minor features.

Features

Fried Egg

Fried eggs are a type of food accessible very early on in the game. It replenishes 4 hunger points (out of 20), and is simple to obtain as all it takes is cooking a chicken's eggs either in a furnace, smoker or a campfire.
While as a food type it's decent (at least in the early/mid game), its big disadvantage is that its max stack size is 16.

Golden Egg

Eggstra also adds a chance for Chickens to very rarely lay a Golden Egg instead of a normal egg. This can be sold to a high-level Villager with the farmer profession, or can be kept to bake a Golden Cake.

If you are impatient, you can also trade one egg and 8 Emerald Blocks with a Cleric to obtain a Golden egg.

Golden Egg throwing

Golden eggs can also be tossed similarly to normal eggs. Once one hits a block or a mob, it will break and reveal its contents alongside dropping a hefty amount of experience.

The loot found in Golden Eggs is customizable, as you can create a Datapack to replace it (Through creating a new file inside of eggstra/loot_tables/entities/golden_egg.json)

Fun fact: Chickens with a Strength potion effect will be able to lay tougher eggs, with a higher chance of them being Golden Eggs.

Golden Cake

Golden Cakes are among the best sources of food in Minecraft. While the crafting recipe for them is similar to that of normal cakes, they require a Golden Egg and Cocoa Beans. Once placed, you can immediately tell its got magical properties with its particles and sounds. A player may eat a slice of Golden Cake to replenish 6/20 hunger points, and obtain the Absorption potion effect for 3 minutes. This effect can stack up to 5 times, with 5 slices of Golden Cake allowing to reach Absorption 5 for a total of 10 extra Gold Hearts.

Fun fact: you can put candles on Golden cakes similarly to how you can with normal cakes!

Mangrove Shrine

When walking around a newly generated Mangrove Swamp, you may come across a Mangrove Shrine. This is a small altar-like structure, that has a Golden Cake on top. When found, don't dismiss it as it may be concealing something... ;)

Any Questions?

Q: Why can I not throw the Golden Egg?
A: For now, Golden Eggs cannot be thrown as nothing happens when thrown. They will be throwable once there's a reason for them to be!

Q: Why can't I eat any more slices of the Golden Cake?
A: If you have the potion effect Absorption V active, you are not able to eat any more slices of Golden Cake. This is even if you have used your Golden Hearts!

Q: Q: Can I include Eggstra in X modpack?
A: Of course! Make sure though to credit me, similarly to how you'd credit other mod creators in the modpack.

Q: Can you make a <1.19 version?
A: As of right now, a pre-1.19 version of the mod is not planned. This is due to the Mangrove Shrine being exclusive to 1.19.
